History of Organization
In 1999, a state summit was held under the name "Ready to Learn". A major goal was to encourage efforts to assure that children 0-5 would be a priority for both the public and private sectors Regional Summits were formed and the Colina Foundation continued to keep the focus on Early Childhood in Wayne County.
In April of 2001, with the support of the Colina Foundation, a non-profit organization, specifically focused on Early Childhood development was formed. EVERYBODY READY received 501c (3) status in December of 2001.
EVERYBODY READY managed a speakers’ bureau focused on early childhood development. This initiative increased public and private sector awareness of the long term value of quality services, activities and programs for children age 0-5.
EVERYBODY READY secured grant funding in 2006 as part of the State of Michigan’s Great Start initiative. EVERYBODY READY has provided ongoing in-kind support for the Great Start Collaborative –Wayne for the past decade.
EVERYBODY READY now serves as the fiscal, administrative and programmatic agent for the Great Start Collaborative-Wayne through funding from the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Great Start through Wayne RESA. The Collaborative meets quarterly and has over 50 community leaders who are committed to building and maintaining a comprehensive high quality Early Childhood system in Wayne County, Michigan.
EVERYBODY READY has received additional public and private grants from: the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services; St. John Mission Grant; Delta Dental Foundation; Comcast; Women’s Caring Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Skillman Foundation; Development Centers; Detroit Institute for Population Health; the Ford Motor Company, United Way for Southeastern Michigan; Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and Oakland Schools.
